Job Description

The Aggie Innovation Space (AIS) in the College of Engineering is seeking self-motivated, team-centered junior or senior undergraduates or full-time graduate students in engineering and/or business for on- campus Co-op positions.  Majors include all engineering majors, business administration, marketing, accounting, or finance.

Selected individuals will be tasked with promoting design thinking, the engineering design process, and customer-centric marketing, entrepreneurship and/or project management.  Selected Co-op students will do this by mentoring undergraduate students pursuing engineering, and fostering innovation, and/or entrepreneurial projects within the AIS.  The College of Engineering is looking for highly motivated individuals that are interested in supporting a growing community of innovators and entrepreneurs at NMSU.

The selected students will be the first point of contact that students have within the AIS; the Co-Op position will serve as technical expert, program management, and organizational management. This position has flexibility regarding weekday involvement.  Selected students will be expected, however, to maintain a set schedule.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Represent the Aggie Innovation Space and its mission within NMSU.
  • Serve as technical expert in at least one of the following areas: robotics, electronics, CAD, prototyping and manufacturing, consumer research, programming, or product development.
  • Collaborate with AIS Advisory Committee to determine workshops, design challenges, and other scheduling needs.
  • Support maintenance of mentor database to organize contact information, schedules, service hours, demographics and field of expertise.
  • Design and produce documentation as needed to support use of equipment within the AIS. Attend AIS hosted educational programs as needed to supervise and support.
  • A minimum commitment of 10 hrs. per week is required, with some flexibility depending on scheduled programs and events.

The application shall include a letter of interest, a current resume, and one letter of recommendation from a faculty member.

Open positions will be posted through NMSU Aggie Career Manager.
