The Aggie Innovators are a group of experienced engineering students working within the Aggie Innovation Space who are available to help guide students through the engineering process. Whether you are working on a capstone, course project, student project for competition, or simply interested in creating something new, the Intel Innovators are on hand to assist engineering students to develop, design and prototype projects within the Aggie Innovation Space.

Expertise includes 3D printing, computer-aided design, project organization, prototype development,  and programmable development boards such as Galileo, Arduino, and Raspberry Pi.The Aggie Innovators also collaborate closely with NMSU Arrowhead Center to assist in transitioning new ideas towards commercialization.

The Aggie Innovators oversee management of the Aggie Innovation Space including recommendations for acquisition of new equipment and software, and purchasing of consumable materials and supplies within the Aggie Innovation.

Diego Chavez is a dual-major engineering student in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, working as an undergraduate research assistant at the MAE department robotics laboratory. Diego is an FEA, robotics and 3D printing enthusiast, and is passionate about driving prototyping and engineering to their limits.He is always open to new projects and is willing to help anyone with project ideas.

Kelsey Hayes is an Undergraduate student majoring in Chemical Engineering and minoring in Spanish, and a member of the Chi Omega Sorority. Kelsey graduated from the International Baccalaureate program at Sandia High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Among many other extracurricular activities, she grew up participating in the 4-H program and held the position of New Mexico State 4-H Diplomat. Kelsey loves problem solving and is excited to assist you with any projects you’re working on.

Daniel Herrera is an undergraduate student studying Mechanical Engineering, and an undergraduate lab assistant for the Human-Robot Interaction Lab (iHRI). His work consists primarily of social robotics, general robotics, 3D modeling, programming, design and 3D printing.  He is open to all different engineering projects, is willing to help anyone, and loves to learn ways to apply engineering to everyday life.

Jarod is a third year undergraduate student in the Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering department. Jarod was born and raised in Alamogordo, NM prior to attending school at NMSU. In addition to working at the Aggie Innovation Space, he is the President and Lead Engineer of NMSU’s Design Build Fly team. He is here to help with any engineering projects you have!

Maria is a junior double-majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Aerospace Engineering. She was born and raised in El Paso, TX, where she gained experience in managing a business. She played soccer throughout high school and was formerly a cadet in the Air Force ROTC program at NMSU. After graduating, her goal is to commission as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force and work as a Space Operations officer. Eventually, she would like to work for Space X, and hopefully one day become an astronaut.  She is interested in the design and function of aircraft and is passionate about astronomy.
