Design Challenge
The Aggie Innovation Space at New Mexico State University is the student-driven, entrepreneurial heart of the College of Engineering. Our Design Challenges inspire students to apply their technical knowledge and creativity in bold, new ways. Whether students approach a Design Challenge as an individual or as a team, they will put theory to practice tackling industry-specified project goals with industry-defined guidelines and materials. The Aggie Innovation Space (AIS) at NMSU invites members of industry and government agencies to propose unique and creative challenges that help prepare students for their future careers. Understanding and executing work based on client goals provides students the opportunity to advance their communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills while putting their technical preparation to the test. And, just as valuable - the challenges are fun and generate a sense of camaraderie enjoyed by all participants.
Getting Started:
Scroll down to the bottom of this page. You will see a form where you can submit a well-defined concept or an idea that still requires development. Either way, you are opening the line of communication with the Aggie Innovation Space and we welcome the engagement. The submission form asks our industry and government partners to introduce the proposed project and define learning objectives, design specifications, fabrication materials, tools and/or software, as well as the rules for the challenge. Some challenges might last eight hours while others might run the course of a few weeks. Challenges may propose individually managed projects or interdisciplinary student teamwork within the College of Engineering or across academic colleges. Challenges may include launch parties, prizes and awards, and donated materials. Industry personnel may assist with challenges, serve as judges, and/or present awards.
